How to Handle Being a Stay at Home Mom

A stay at home mom faces many differnt challenges that a mom who works outside the home. They have more responsibilities to deal with at all times.

Stay at home moms tend to face more challenges than a mom who works outside the home. The stay at home mom has to deal with keeping up with the laundry and house chores at all times and taking care of the kids. This can make dealing with personal issues and other aspects of the family, just a bit more exhausting and sometimes make the mom feel isolated. The constant, all the time demand for your time by your family or other things, can really leave  the mom with no time for herself at all. No one really understands a stay at moms life, until they have experienced it first hand. Following the tips and suggestions listed in this article may help the stay at home mom achieve the balance and order they need in their life.

Prioritizing your time is something that sounds simple, but for a stay at home mom, it is not. Think of different ways to achieve this sort of thing. Ask your spouse or partner to watch the kids for a certain amount of time so you can get some things done or have “you” time. If you cannot get the spouse to cooperate or his work schedule does not allow for it, feel free to ask a friend or a family member. It never hurts to ask and you will find that many friends or family members are willing and eager to help out.

Consider joining a moms group, so you can learn different ideas from one another when it comes to being a stay at home mom and getting things done. Take a day and spend all your time outside. There will always be something to do around the house and a day of leaving it to sit will not hurt. Take the children to the park or a day out shopping. Just make sure to get out of the house!

Take the time to look at your situation and think about getting help from others if you need it. You do not want to reach the point to where you have had enough and can't take anymore. As mentioned earlier, asking for help does not hurt anything. It does not make you a bad mom or a week one, everyone asks for help some time or another.

If you can, line up some play dates for your children, if they are old enough and you know some other mothers. More than likely they would love to do a kid swap for the day. The kids will have some of the best fun and it will allow you to be more productive for the day.

Remind yourself that one day the children will be grown and not need you for anything anymore. Enjoy the time you have with them, as one day you will be begging for that time again and the close connection you once had.

Let go of any expectations you have ever had of being a stay at home. Also do not allow yourself to get caught up in other peoples expectations. You know what you can handle and what you are capable of. Do not beat yourself up over the things that you did not get done for the day or what the house looks like. Just try your best to accomplish what you can and live for the day. You know yourself that you did your best and that is all that matters.
